Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Scan Anything is an offline QR & barcode scanner, code generator and Wi-Fi connect helper. We do not collect, upload, sell or share your personal data. Everything you scan stays on your device unless you explicitly export or share it yourself.

The one exception is advertising: the app shows ads served by Google AdMob, whose SDK processes certain technical signals on Google's side. That is described in full in section 4. We ourselves operate no server, no analytics backend and no user accounts.

2. Data processed on your device

The following is written to a private database inside the app's own storage on your handset. It never leaves the device unless you take a deliberate action, and it is removed when you clear history or uninstall.

Your deliberate exports (CSV of history, sharing a value, printing a generated code) hand data to whatever app or service you choose — Files, email, a messaging app. That transfer is yours, and its privacy depends on the destination you pick.

3. Permissions and why we ask

The app explains each permission in plain language before the system prompt appears, and every feature that needs one degrades gracefully if you decline.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free because it shows ads delivered by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited): banner ads, native ads inside the history list, and app-open ads shown when you return to the app after a period in the background. Some actions also let you earn a temporary ad-free period by watching a rewarded ad.

To serve, measure and personalise ads, Google's advertising SDK may process the following on Google's side:

We do not receive, buy, sell or share this data, and we cannot see the profile Google builds from it. Google processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, may link it across apps and devices you use, and may share it as described there.

The exact wording of Google's data handling is authoritative and we point you to it rather than paraphrasing:

If ad loading fails or your device has no network, the ad slots collapse and the app remains fully usable.

The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK of its own, so the list above covers all third-party data processing that occurs while you use it.

6. Children's privacy

Scan Anything is a general-audience utility. It is not directed at children, is not intended for users under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. We tag the app as non-child-directed for ad serving, and content ratings are set accordingly. If you believe a child has provided us information through the app, contact us and we will address it.

7. Retention and deletion

Because scan data lives only on your device, you control retention. There is no server-side copy for us to delete. Step-by-step instructions are on our data deletion page.

8. International transfers

We operate no data storage of our own, so our processing creates no cross-border transfers. Ads, however, are served by Google from its global infrastructure, which means the signals listed in section 4 may be transmitted outside your region and processed by Google under its terms, including its EEA/UK adequacy and standard-contractual-clause safeguards.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially we will update the effective date at the top of this page and the link inside the app, and — where a change affects how ads are served or consented to — we may re-present the consent dialog. Continuing to use the app after the effective date means the revised policy applies. SDK and plugin upgrades that change data flows are reviewed and this policy is updated to match.

10. Your rights and how to contact us

Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, LGPD in Brazil, and others) you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

For our own processing you can exercise almost all of these directly in the app — deleting records or clearing history — since no personal data of yours is held by us. For anything else, including requests concerning Google-ad-served data, tell us what you need and we will help you route it correctly.
