These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Desho.Co.Ltd ("we", "us") for your use of the Scan Anything application. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
If you use the app on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
Scan Anything is a utility that reads and creates machine-readable codes and helps with Wi-Fi connections. Its features are: scanning QR codes and 1D barcodes with the camera, reading codes from a photo you select, storing a local history of what you scanned, generating codes from text, links, Wi-Fi credentials, contacts and other payloads, exporting or sharing that history, and joining a Wi-Fi network via the Android system dialler.
The app runs offline for all core functionality. An internet connection is used to load advertising and to open links you choose to open.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you control, for lawful personal and internal business purposes.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, or offer the app as a service to others; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it except where applicable law expressly permits; remove or obscure proprietary notices; modify or create derivative works; use automated means to extract data or the app's outputs at scale; or interfere with its operation, its security, or the advertising that funds it. Ownership of the app, its source code and all intellectual property remains with Desho.Co.Ltd. Rights not granted here are reserved.
You are responsible for the codes you scan, create, store, export and share. You agree not to use the app to:
Product barcodes are commonly reused or counterfeited in the wild. Never rely on a scanned product code alone to establish authenticity, ownership, price, safety or provenance.
The app is free of charge and funded by advertising. You accept that it may show banner, native and app-open ads served by Google AdMob, and — where offered — rewarded ads that grant you a temporary ad-free period or unlock an export in exchange for watching an ad.
How advertising handles your data is covered by our Privacy Policy, which these terms incorporate.
Data you scan or create stays on your device and belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it, and we do not upload, monitor, screen, analyse or back it up.
Because we cannot see it, we cannot recover it. Losing a device, clearing app data, or uninstalling the app permanently deletes stored history. You are responsible for any backup you need; the export function exists for that purpose. You are also responsible for compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction regarding the content you handle and how you use it.
The app interacts with services we do not control, including Google Mobile Ads / AdMob, Google Play services and the ML Kit barcode model, your device's camera and Wi-Fi subsystems, the system photo picker and share sheets, and any destination you choose to open or share to. Your relationship with those providers is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, behaviour, or the content they deliver, and a link to an external page is not an endorsement of it.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. In particular, we do not warrant that:
You use the app, its results, and any data or links it presents to you entirely at your own risk. Scan results are informational, never advice, and never a substitute for verifying details at their source.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Desho.Co.Ltd and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill, expected savings, or business interruption, arising from or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use it and USD 25.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or, where applicable, our fraud or wilful misconduct. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including any non-excludable rights under the laws of your country.
We may update these terms and the app over time. When we make a material change we will revise the effective date above and, where practical, surface it in the app or through your store's update channel. Continuing to use the app after that date constitutes acceptance.
We may suspend or withdraw features, change how the app is distributed, or stop offering it altogether, at any time and without liability to you except where applicable law requires otherwise. You may stop using the app and uninstall it at any time; that ends the licence.
Sections 3, 6, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Cairo — except that nothing in this clause deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you are habitually resident, and we may seek relief in your country of residence.
If any provision is held unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it valid, and the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the app and supersede any prior understanding.
Google Play's own terms apply to obtaining the app through Google Play. If these terms conflict with mandatory Google Play developer policies, those policies prevail to the extent of the conflict.
